¡Hola! Mi nombre es Michelle. Tengo 36 años, soy soltera y trabajo en un banco en la ciudad de Nueva York en el departamento de finanzas. Me encanta trabajar allí porque es muy interesante y la gente con la que trabajo es muy amable. Yo nací en Philadelphia pero me mudé a Nueva York hace 6 años. No me arrepiento de esto. Nueva York es una ciudad fascinante. Hay mucho que hacer aquí: museos, teatros, discotecas, tiendas, restaurantes, etc.

Hello! My name is Michelle. I am 36 years old, single and I work in a Bank in New York City in the finance department. I love working there because it is very interesting and the people I work with are very nice.  I was born in Philadelphia but moved to New York 6 years ago. I don’t regret it at all. New York is a fascinating city. There is so much to do here: Museums, theatres, night clubs, stores, restaurants, etc.

Después de trabajar, me gusta comer en diferentes restaurantes. Hay una gran variedad aquí porque gente de todo el mundo viene a vivir y a trabajar a la ciudad de Nueva York. Mi comida favorita es la coreana. Ellos hacen el mejor cerdo asado del mundo. La comida la hacen en una estufa en frente de ti y hay una gran variedad de platos vegetarianos que la acompañan. Esto la hace muy saludable. También disfruto comer comida italiana, hindú y china.

After work I love eating at different restaurants. There are a variety of restaurants here because people from all over the world come to live and work in New York City. My favorite food is Korean. They make the best barbeque pork in the world. The food is cooked right in front of you on a stove and there are a variety of vegetarian side dishes that come with it. That makes it really healthy. I also enjoy eating Italian, Indian and Chinese food.

Los viernes por la noche y los fines de semana, me gusta ir al teatro. Me encanta ver obras de teatro. Cuando era niña quería ser actriz, pero la mayoría de los actores son pobres y a mí me gusta tener dinero. El fin de semana yo cocino o voy a restaurantes con amigos. También estoy tomando clases de francés que disfruto mucho. Yo pienso que es importante seguir aprendiendo cosas nuevas mientras que se pueda. Yo he tomado clases de cocina, de baile de salón y de natación desde que me mudé a Nueva York. Si hay algo que usted desea aprender, hay un lugar en Nueva York donde lo puede aprender.

On Friday nights and on the weekends I like to go to the theatre. I love watching plays. When I was little I wanted to be an actress, but most actors are poor and I like having money. On the weekend I cook or go to restaurants with friends. I am also taking a class in French which I enjoy very much. I think it is important to keep learning new things as long as you can. I have taken classes in cooking, ballroom dancing and swimming since I moved to New York. If there is anything you want to learn, there is a place in New York where you can learn it.

Nueva York también es un lugar maravilloso para conocer otras personas solteras. Yo no tengo mucho tiempo para tener citas pero estoy saliendo con alguien que conocí en la clase de francés que estoy atendiendo. Su nombre es Alex y hemos estado saliendo por un año. Tenemos muchos intereses en común. A nosotros nos encanta el teatro y probar diferentes tipos de comida, y compartimos una pasión por el idioma y la cultura francesa. Yo espero que el próximo año vamos a poder ir a Francia y recorrer las regiones de los vinos. Yo siempre he querido visitar París pero nunca he tenido alguien con quien ir. Yo no he presentado Alex a mi familia todavía, pero vamos a visitarlos este fin de semana. Espero que no les importe que Alex no sea judío. Pues bien, lo vamos a descubrir pronto.

New York is also a great place to meet other single people. I don’t have much time to date but I am seeing someone I met at the French class I am attending. His name is Alex and we have been going out for a year now. We have a lot of interests in common. We are both love the theatre and trying different kinds of cuisine, and we share a passion for the French language and culture. I hope next year, we will be able to go to France and tour the wine regions. I have always wanted to visit Paris but never had anyone to go with. I haven’t introduced Alex to my family yet but we are going to visit them this weekend. I hope they don’t mind that Alex is not Jewish. Oh well, we’ll find out soon enough.
